The University of Alabama offers very generous scholarship opportunities for qualifying Alabama transfer students. Complete the steps below to maximize your scholarship and aid opportunities.

STEP 1:  APPLY FOR ADMISSIONS & SCHOLARSHIPS

As an in-state transfer applicant, you must submit the following to be considered for admission and scholarships:

STEP 2:  MAXIMIZE YOUR SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

To maximize scholarship opportunities, students who wish to enroll in the fall and summer semester as a main campus student should submit an application and all supporting documents by the March 1 priority date. Students enrolling in the fall and summer semester main campus will continue to be considered for competitive scholarships until May 1. Funds may be limited, apply early to maximize your scholarship opportunities.

Students who wish to enroll as a main campus student in the spring semester should submit an application and all supporting documents by October 1.

All fall and summer semester admits who meet the March 1 priority date will be emailed instructions to complete the Transfer Supplemental Scholarship Application.

2023 In-State Transfer Competitive Scholarships

If Enrolling in the Spring 2023 Semester: Admitted main campus transfer students that meet the October 1 deadline and the qualifying minimum hours of transferable coursework by the summer semester prior to enrolling will be eligible for the following competitive scholarships:

If Enrolling in the Fall and Summer 2023 Semesters: Admitted main campus transfer students that meet the March 1 priority date and the qualifying minimum hours of transferable coursework by the fall semester prior to enrolling will be eligible for the following competitive scholarships. Students will continue to be considered through May 1 as funds are available:

Students are eligible to apply for these scholarships if they have completed high school and attended one or more two-year institutions, earning 45+ transferable hours:

  • Community College Presidential Scholarship: Tuition for two years (four semesters)
    • Community colleges within the state of Alabama are eligible to nominate students. Please see your community college’s president’s office for information on the nomination process and requirements.
  • Financial Aid Community College Honors Scholarship: Tuition for two years (four semesters)
  • Community College Excellence Scholarship: Tuition for two years (four semesters)
  • National Alumni Association Community College Honors Scholarship: $1,000 per semester plus a book grant of $150 per semester for four semesters

Students are eligible to apply for this scholarship if they have completed high school and attended two-year or four-year institutions, earning 15+ transferable hours:

  • Roll Tide Transfer Scholarship: $1,500 per semester

2023 In-State Transfer Automatic Merit Scholarships

If Enrolling in the Spring 2023 Semester: Only main campus first-time community college transfer students who have submitted an application and all supporting documents by October 1, with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and 45 hours of transferable coursework completed after the end of the summer semester prior to enrolling will be eligible for the following automatic merit scholarships:

If Enrolling in the Fall and Summer 2023 Semesters: Only main campus first-time community college transfer students who have submitted an application and all supporting documents by May 1, with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and 45 hours of transferable coursework completed after the end of the fall semester prior to enrolling will be eligible for the following automatic merit scholarships:

  • Community College Distinguished Scholarship: Students with a 3.75 – 4.0 cumulative GPA will receive $3,000 per semester for four semesters.
  • Community College Achievement Scholarship: Students with a 3.5 – 3.74 cumulative GPA will receive $2,000 per semester for four semesters.
  • Phi Theta Kappa Honors Scholarship: Students who transfer from an Alabama community college with a 3.5 GPA and are members of the PTK Honor Society will receive $750 per semester for four semesters.
  • All-Alabama Academic Team Scholarship: Students named to the team will receive $500 per semester plus a book grant of $150 for four semesters.

If you are awarded a competitive scholarship but also meet the criteria for one or more automatic merit scholarships, you will receive the highest of the scholarship offers.

STEP 3: COMPLETE YOUR FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID (FAFSA, OPTIONAL)

The Financial Aid staff is dedicated to making the federal aid process as straightforward as possible. Financial assistance available through this office includes federal aid – grants, loans, work study and information about student employment. Please visit The University of Alabama Student Financial Aid website for more information. Submit your FAFSA by December 1 to ensure priority consideration for all types of financial aid.
