The University of Alabama offers very generous scholarship opportunities for qualifying Alabama transfer students. Complete the steps below to maximize your scholarship and aid opportunities.

STEP 1:  APPLY FOR ADMISSIONS & SCHOLARSHIPS

As an in-state transfer applicant, you must submit the following to be considered for admission and scholarships:

Applying for admission in the Spring 2022 Semester?

To receive an automatic merit scholarship listed below and receive consideration for competitive scholarships, you must submit all required applications and documents by October 1.

Applying for admission in the Fall or Summer 2022 Semesters?

To receive an automatic merit scholarship listed below and receive consideration for competitive scholarships, you must submit all required applications and documents by March 1.

STEP 2:  MAXIMIZE YOUR SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

To maximize scholarship opportunities, students who wish to enroll in the fall and summer semester should be admitted by March 1 or spring semester should be admitted by October 1.

All fall, summer and spring semester admits who meet the posted deadline will be emailed instructions to complete the Transfer Scholarship Application.

2022 In-State Transfer Competitive Scholarships

If Enrolling in the Spring Semester of 2022: Admitted transfer students that submit the Transfer Scholarship Application by October 1 and meet the qualifying minimum hours of transferable coursework by the end of the summer semester prior to enrolling will be eligible for the following competitive scholarships:

If Enrolling in the Fall/Summer Semesters of 2022: Admitted transfer students that submit the Transfer Scholarship Application by March 1 and meet the qualifying minimum hours of transferable coursework by the end of the fall semester prior to enrolling will be eligible for the following competitive scholarships:

Students Transferring from a 2-Year Institution Only with 45+ Credit Hours

  • Community College Presidential Scholarship: Tuition for two years (four semesters)
    • Community colleges within the state of Alabama are eligible to nominate students. Please see your community college President’s office for information on the nomination process and requirements.
  • Financial Aid Community College Honors Scholarship: Tuition for two years (four semesters)
  • Community College Excellence Scholarship: Tuition for two years (four semesters)
  • National Alumni Association Community College Honors Scholarship: $2,000 per year plus a book grant of $300 for two years (four semesters)

Students Transferring from a 4-Year or 2-Year Institution with at least 15 Credit Hours

  • Roll Tide Transfer Scholarship: $3,000 per year

2022 In-State Transfer Automatic Merit Scholarships

If Enrolling in the Spring Semester of 2022: Only first-time community college transfer students admitted by October 1, with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and 45 hours of transferable coursework completed after the end of the summer semester prior to enrolling will be eligible for the following automatic merit scholarships:

If Enrolling in the Fall/Summer Semesters of 2022: Only first-time community college transfer students admitted by March 1, with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and 45 hours of transferable coursework completed after the end of the fall semester prior to enrolling will be eligible for the following automatic merit scholarships:

  • Community College Distinguished Scholarship: Students with a 3.75 – 4.0 cumulative GPA will receive $5,000 per year for two years (four semesters).
  • Community College Achievement Scholarship: Students with a 3.5 – 3.74 cumulative GPA will receive $3,000 per year for two years (four semesters).
  • Phi Theta Kappa Honors Scholarship: Students who transfer from an Alabama community college with a 3.5 GPA and are members of the PTK Honor Society will receive $1,500 per year for two years (four semesters). This scholarship cannot be combined with full-tuition scholarships.
  • All-Alabama Academic Team Scholarship: Students named to the team will receive $1,000 per year plus a book grant of $300 for two years (four semesters).

If you are awarded a competitive scholarship but also meet the criteria for one or more automatic merit scholarships, you will receive the highest of the scholarship offers.

STEP 3: COMPLETE YOUR FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID (FAFSA, OPTIONAL)

The Financial Aid staff is dedicated to making the federal aid process as straightforward as possible. Financial assistance available through this office includes federal aid – grants, loans, work study and information about student employment. Please visit The University of Alabama Student Financial Aid website for more information. Submit your FAFSA by December 1 to ensure priority consideration for all types of financial aid.
