Scholarships for Transfer Students
Undergraduate Admissions offers a varying number of transfer scholarships to students that have achieved academic and co-curricular excellence at community colleges. All scholarships are competitive unless otherwise noted. There are a variety of departmental scholarships as well as those that require specific qualifications for consideration. A listing of those can be found on the scholarship application, and you will receive access to the online scholarship application once you apply for admission.
To be considered for the following scholarships, students must be admitted based on materials received by March 1 before the fall they plan to enroll. Eligible students must transfer from a community college with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA over 2 years of coursework. Students may not have attended UA or any other four-year institution in order to be eligible for transfer scholarships.
Phi Theta Kappa Honors Scholarships:
$3000 per year for two years (automatically awarded; students must transfer from an Alabama Community College, meet regular scholarship requirements, and show proof of membership)
(Students must be Alabama residents and transfer from a community college)
$4,000 per academic year (automatically awarded based on current FAFSA application; no additional scholarship application required; please review the full requirements)
Community College Excellence Scholarships:
Tuition for two years
Financial Aid Community College Honors Scholarships:
Tuition for two years
Community College Distinguished Scholarships:
$4000 per year for two years
Community College Achievement Scholarships:
$3000 per year for two years
National Alumni Association Community College Honors Scholarships:
$2000 per year plus a book grant of $300 for two years
Community College Merit Scholarships:
$2000 per year for two years
All-Alabama Academic Team Scholarship:
$1000 per year plus a book grant of $300 for two years
Community College Recognition Scholarships:
$1000 per year for two years
(Students must be out-of-state residents and transfer from a community college)
Capstone Transfer Scholarship
Out-of-state portion of tuition for two years
Transfer students must submit the following by March 1 prior to their intended fall enrollment to be considered for academic scholarships:
- Complete the application for admission
- Complete the application for scholarships
- Official college transcripts from all colleges attended
- Required scholarship documentation (if applicable)
All transfer scholarships are for the fall term of the student's transfer year.
To complete the scholarship application, go to myBama, log in, click the Admissions/Scholarships tab, and select the Application for Scholarships link in the Scholarships box.
Once a scholarship application has been submitted, changes cannot be made to the application online. All changes must be submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Scholarships using our contact form.
