Scholarships for Transfer Students

Undergraduate Admissions offers a varying number of scholarships to students that have achieved academic and co-curricular excellence at Alabama community colleges and are transferring as a junior to UA. There are also a varying number of scholarships to students that are members of Phi Theta Kappa at their community college. Scholarships are designated to Alabama community college students unless otherwise noted. There are a variety of departmental scholarships as well as those that require specific qualifications for consideration. A listing of those can be found on the scholarship application and you will receive a link to the online scholarship application once you apply for admission.

To be considered for the following scholarships, students must be admitted based on materials received by March 1 before the fall they plan to enroll and transfer from a community college (with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA over 2 years of coursework):

  • Alabama's Promise
  • Community College Excellence Scholarships: Tuition for two years (students must transfer as a junior from an Alabama community college)
  • Financial Aid Community College Honors Scholarships: Tuition for two years (student must transfer as a junior from an Alabama community college)
  • Community College Distinguished Scholarships: $4000 per year for two years (students must transfer as a junior from an Alabama community college)
  • Community College Achievement Scholarships: $3000 per year for two years (students must transfer as a junior from an Alabama community college)
  • National Alumni Association Community College Honors Scholarships: $2000 per year plus a book grant of $300 for two years (student must transfer as a junior from a community college with demonstrated leadership skills)
  • Community College Merit Scholarships: $2000 per year for two years (students must transfer as a junior from an Alabama community college)
  • All-Alabama Academic Team Scholarship: $1000 per year for two years plus a book grant of $300 for two years (student must be named to the team and enroll during the fall)
  • Community College Recognition Scholarships: $1000 per year for two years (students must transfer as a junior from an Alabama community college)
  • Phi Theta Kappa Honors Scholarships: $3000 per year for two years (student must be a member of the PTK organization at an Alabama community college)
  • Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships: $2000 per year for two years (student must be a member of the PTK organization at a community college)
  • Shelton State Phi Theta Kappa Honors Scholarships: $3000 per year for two years (student must be a member of the PTK organization at Shelton State Community College)

Transfer students must submit the following by March 1 prior to their intended fall enrollment in order to receive priority consideration for academic scholarships:

  • Complete the application for admission
  • Complete the application for scholarships
  • Official college transcripts from all colleges attended
  • Required scholarship documentation (if applicable)

All transfer scholarships are for the fall term of the student's transfer year.

To complete the scholarship application, go to myBama, log in, click the Admissions/Scholarships tab, and select the Application for Scholarships link in the Scholarships box.

Once a scholarship application has been submitted, changes cannot be made to the application online. All changes must be submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Scholarships using our contact form.
