The University of Alabama is home to more than 475 National Merit Finalists, National Achievement Finalists, and National Hispanic Scholars. UA is a leader in the enrollment of these students and is in the top 8 percent in the nation in the enrollment of National Merit Scholars, being ranked 11th among public universities and 29th overall and 3rd among public universities and 13th among all universities in the enrollment of National Achievement Finalists.*

- UA is tied for number one in the nation with four students named to the 2007 USA Today All-USA College Academic Team.
- UA has had 24 students named to the USA Today All-USA College Academic Team over the last five years, more than any other college or university.
- UA graduates and students include 15 Rhodes Scholars, 20 Goldwater Scholars, 10 Truman Scholars, 8 Hollings Scholars, 2 Javits Fellows, 1 Udall Scholar and 1 Portz Scholar.
